The Real Translation Project is made up of a group of language teachers and student volunteers from Newcastle University helping charitable and community organizations to translate documents they need into Spanish, French German and Portuguese.
What is the aim of The Real Translation Project?
The project aims to link Newcastle University language students with the community at large. By using their language skills to translate documents they can contribute to the work of charitable and community organizations.
The idea is to use texts which charitable organizations need translated into Spanish, French, German and Portuguese and this process to impact on the learning experience and motivation of the students, enhance their employability and forge links between the university and the community.
Since it started in 2009, around 270 students have been involved, 40 of them from the Erasmus programme. We have worked with several local organizations as well as with a national and two international ones;
